I was supposed to run yesterday, but April’s work schedule didn’t allow for any run time, so I ran today instead. I took advantage of my extra day of rest and used it as justification to increase my mileage. Instead of the same old tired 2.9 mile loop I’ve been doing I did the 4.1 mile loop.
What a great run!!!! I felt great. No leg pain, and after the initial steep ascent in the first mile that always makes me think about walking, I found my stride and my runner’s high. I felt absolutely great for the last mile.
I can feel my cardio coming back too. My first runs after the injury had me training in the 10+ min/mile range, and now I’m down in the 8-9 min/mile range. I have three more training runs before my next race (a 3.5 mile cross-country trail run) on the 17th. I want to make the most of them and see what kind of time I can turn in.
