100 Miles and Counting

Today was a really big run for me. Before I set out, I felt like absolute dog poop. My left leg is sore as all hell and the Motrin/Tylenol ain’t cutting it. But I know this is a short workout week with my upcoming race on Saturday so I went running anyway. By the end of the first mile I was wishing I had stayed home with Ripley, but I pushed through, because I knew today was going to be the day I broke the 100 mile mark.

I set a goal for myself on September 1st that this fall I would run at least 150 miles, and with today’s 100 mile mark, I’m 2/3 of the way there. This little psychological boost allowed me to turn in one of my fastest training times and my new personal best for the mile despite feeling tired, crappy, and sore. Never underestimate the power of the mind.

This is the exact kind of boost I need before Saturday’s race. Wednesday will be an easy run after working in the ICU, and then onto Plymouth! Wish me luck.

Oh yeah, so far I’ve raised $40 for Kayla’s run. Thanks to everyone who has sponsored me so far.
